We  broadly announce a response to the NSF EarthCube Research Coordination Network RFP (Amendment I). The preliminary title of the RCN  is "EarthCube Semantics Network (ESN)". It will focus on requirements gathering, education, and information exchange concerning the role of Semantics, Linked Data, and vocabularies for EarthCube.
We, Peter Fox (PI), Mark Schildhauer, Tim Finin, Krzysztof Janowicz, and Pascal Hitzler seek to openly engage  specialists, senior, and junior people involved in the Geosciences,  in EarthCube, and in relevant areas of Cyberinfrastructure.
We invite you to be part of this effort and would be very glad to hear of your interest in  participating in this effort, and to discuss this further with you. We encourage you to make your interest/ participation visible on the Earthcube NING website for community visibility.
Please find a first outline for the proposed RCN online at: geog.ucsb.edu/~jano/EC-semantics-RCN-outline.pdf
Best Regards,
Peter, Mark, Tim, Pascal, and Krzysztof
