Semantics and Ontologies

The proposal seeks to evaluate the role of semantics/ontologies in both discovery and integration of heterogeneous data from all disciplines of geosciences. Semantic technologies that will facilitate achieving such goals will be evaluated. The workshop will provide an open forum for the broader community to provide solutions to these challenges.PI: Krishna Sinha, Virginia Tech, pitlab at vt.educo-PIs: Hassan Babaie, Georgia State USubscribe to the Semantics Group:…See More

Workflow

Workflows are used to manage complex computations that have many steps or use large data.  Workflow systems assist scientists to select models appropriate for their data, configure them with appropriate parameters, and execute them efficiently.  This goal of this group is to advance the use of workflow technologies in geosciences to accelerate discoveries. The group uses an external web site to highlight ongoing activities and events posted here, with links to all the group documents which are…See More

Data Discovery, Mining, Integration

Data discovery, access, and mining are essential functions associated with any cyberinfrastructure that supports data-enabled science. The EarthCube Data Discovery, Access, and Mining (aka DDMA) cluster of activities will assess the state of the art in each of these areas and provide a roadmap for the future. Broad community engagement is a key aspect of this activity. Correspondingly, we will discuss strategies for embracing the needs of the so-called long tail of geoscientists in the areas of…See More

I suggest that the NSB document "long-lived data digital data collections" be added to the background reading page.

Hi Genevieve and Kim.

I notice I am on the admin page and there is something associated with me that says moderator.  Can you purge those associations for me as well as for the following NSF personnel.  I did not know how to do it.  Here are the names.

Jennifer Schopf - please delete anything associated with her that does not have an attachment,  If there is an attachment, if you could forward those to me for me to inspect and sanitize and resend to you, that would be great.

Please demote the following from admin or any association with admin or moderator rankings.

Cliff Jacobs,

Eva Zanzerkia

Leonard Pace

Almadena Chtchelkanova

Irene Lombardo

If you see any other people with NSF affiliations that seem to be associated with moderator or admin status, let me know and I will see if I can check it out.

My concern is when I googled myself, is that I see myself as an EarthCube moderator, which has to go if possible.

Thanks, Barbara Ransom
