Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics encompasses a broad array of disciplines, seeking to increase our understanding of the interplay between physical and biological processes in the ocean. The domain includes water column research such as ocean productivity, population dynamics, biogeography, and biogeochemistry. This domain is fundamentally interdisciplinary, incorporating the biological, physical and chemical oceanographic sciences with atmospheric and geologic sciences. Research within this domain produces highly diverse data types that pose unique challenges for management, integration, and analysis. To date, the existing capabilities and challenges of this community have been underrepresented within the EarthCube effort.
To obtain the maximum information on the drivers and needs of this diverse community, this workshop will bring together key scientists, data managers, cyberinfrastructure specialists, and education and outreach professionals who are advancing ocean ecosystem research. Early Career professionals are encouraged to provide their input. This event will complement other oceanographic end-user workshops, such as Deep Seafloor Processes, to provide EarthCube with a comprehensive assessment of the needs of the broader oceanographic research community.
Support will be provided for in-person attendance; virtual capabilities will be available for remote participation.
